Week 1: Don Bosco Tech Invitational
Luis Uribe: Improved his PR from 16:51 in 2001 to 15:58 in 2002's
first race of the season. Ran as the Braves 3rd man; placed
2nd in the Junior race at the Don Bosco Tech Invitational
Kevin Urak: Made a huge stride in his first race of 2002 as he
lowered his lifetime best into the low 17's to post 17:14 at the Don
Bosco Tech Invitational.
Luis Perez: Ran an impressive 17:44 to PR at the Don Bosco Tech
Invitational.
Week 2: Sunny Hills Invitational
Randy Skillens: Ran a lifetime best, 16:05, at the Sunny Hills
Invitational to place 2nd in the Sophomore race. His time placed
him as the Brave's #1 man for the day.
Jon Sandoval: Broke into the Varsity top 9 with his race at the Sunny
Hills Invitational. His time of 17:14 was a lifetime best.
Week 3: Serra League Cluster/Woodcrest
Christian Invite
Eddie Diaz: Improved time on Central Park course from 18:01 to 16:39
to run as the Braves 5th man. Placed 11th overall at the Serra League
Cluster Meet and placed ahead of Santa Margarita's 4th runner.
Darby O'neill: Ran 55 seconds faster in 2002 at Central Park to place
in front of Santa Margarita's 5th runner. Finished as the Braves
#1 man at the Woodcrest Christian Invitational.
Ephraim Barrios: Dropped his PR from 17:36 in 2001 to 16:41 at the
Serra League Cluster Meet to place first in the Junior Varsity race. His
time placed him as the Braves #6 runner overall on the day.
Week 4: Roadrunner Classic
Randy Skillens: Came in 5th place overall at the Roadrunner Classic. Ran
as the teams #2 man, racing in at a time of 15:57 missing the Bosco
Sophomore record by a mere one second! Improved 3:19 over last years
Roadrunner race.
Bradley Bonilla: Helped his team at the Roadrunner Classic by finishing
as the #5 man solidifying 2nd place in the F/S division. Ran a PR of
18:54.
Kevin Urak: Finished 3rd overall and ran as #1 man for his team in
the F/S division of the Roadrunner Classic. Improved his time 2:18
for a time of 17:16.
Jon Sandoval: Won the JV division of the Roadrunner Classic to record
a PR time of 16:51 - 1:45 seconds faster then his previous Roadrunner
best. Finished the day as the Braves #6 man.
Week 5: Clovis Invitational
Mahesh Gandhi: Battled a Long Beach Poly runner all race in the
Clovis JV race. Ended up in second but had a breakthrough race
with a 5K time of 16:57 on the state meet course. Led his team
to a 3rd place finish in the JV division.
Luis Uribe: Stepped up for his team once again. Racing
on the state meet course for the first time, Uribe ran an impressive
time of 16:35 to help his team to a top 10 finish in the Championship
race at the Clovis Invitatinoal.
Week 6: Bell Gardens Inviational
Kevin Urak, Matt Pruter, Luis Perez, Rene Villa: All four sophomores
stepped up big time to challenge their older varsity counter parts
at this years Bell Gardens Invitational. Coach McIntosh said of these
four "They raced, while everyone else just ran." It is no
wonder why they all ran lifetime PR's for three miles. Their aggressive
style and relentless racing earns them Braves of the Week!
Week 7: Mt. SAC Invitational
Alex Wood: Ran impressively at the Mt. SAC Invitaional for the first
time ever in a great time of 17:28.
Ryan Urak: Made an impressive drop on his Mt. SAC PR
from 20:48 to 18:58.
