CIF-SS PRELIMS::
Braves Shake "Doldrums;" Advance into Finals!
It was said going into Saturday's CIF Preliminary
Heat that the St. John Bosco Cross Country team had experienced "post-season
doldrums," and the that the team was "hamstrung by internal
challenges." Well, after Saturday's race one could say
that the Braves took their first step in exercising their post
season demons, internal challenging doldrums and all. The
Braves continued their string of successful runs into the post
season as they finished second in their heat to advance to the
CIF Southern Section Division II finals.
St. John Bosco now has a chance to earn their
2nd berth into the California State meet next Saturday with a top
four finish in the CIF-SS Finals, or by meeting the automatic qualifying
team time (although there are many technicalities that may prohibit
a team from advancing on team time into State).
Leading the way for the weekly improving Braves
was once again Senior Randy Hills . Hills' time of 15:32
placed him as a favorite for all CIF honors at next week's finals. Supporting
Hills in the quest for CIF success were Anthony Martinez , Daniel
Estrella , Albert Flores, Mahesh Gandhi, Luis Uribe, who had a
break through race and continues to impress weekly, and Senior
Patrick Pavelski . |
