Serra League Finals::

St. John Bosco dominates the Serra League for the 4th straight year

"The Streak" rolls to #9

The average age of the top seven runners on the Braves varsity team was seven years old when the Bosco Cross Country teams started "The Streak." The rock group Nirvana had the #1 album, and the Braves had the #1 team in League. Fast forward to 2002 and Nirvana has the #3 album, but the Braves are still on top.

Running on a damp and soggy afternoon at Central Park, the Braves defended their title for the 8th time and came away with their ninth consecutive league title and fourth consecutive Serra League title. Sophomore Randy Skillens led the way with a somewhat surprising #1 man role and an 3rd place finish overall in league. He has come a long way since his somewhat unconfident days on the Frosh/Soph level to establish himself as a top runner not only on his team but in the whole Serra League. Veteran Senior Captain Anthony Martinez finished fourth overall in the Varsity race, just edging out the sprinting kick of Junior Mahesh Gandhi, who finished in fifth. Gandhi was followed closely in sixth by Junior Ephraim Barrios, and Junior Luis Uribe finished as the Braves fifth man in eighth place overall. The Braves 1-5 runners finished an amazing 23 seconds apart and were all named to the All Serra League team. Rounding out the top 7 for the Braves were Senior Darby O'neill and Junior Ruben Flores who finished in 16th and 17th place respectively.

In other league finals action the Junior Varsity boys picked up another League title for themselves behind the 1, 2, 3 finish of Juniors Jon Sandoval, Matt Estrella and Senior Eddie Diaz, while the Frosh/Soph race saw another 1, 2, 3 finish for the Braves as Sophomore Kevin Urak led his team - followed by Freshman Jon Batres, and Luis Perez.
