SERRA LEAGUE CLUSTER::

Braves Sweep The Serra League
All Levels Victorious At League Opener

Going into the Serra League Cluster meet the Braves were confident they could compete and make a good showing. What transpired in the last race of the day came as somewhat of a surprise. The Braves met all challenges and came away with a big victory - when it was all over the Braves once again stood at the top of the league standings with a perfect 4-0 record. It wasn't the win that surprised the Braves, it was the way the team dominated the league. The Braves scored as little as 15 points on one team, 16 points on two others and 20 points on their closest competitors after all dual meet tabulations were figured. It was the first time in Serra League history that the Braves had that strong of a performance in such a competitive league.

Back on track as the number one runner for his team was junior Randy Skillens. His time of 15:44 earned him a second place finish but was good enough to tie the school course record held by assistant coach Brian Robles. The Braves second and third runners flip-flopped this time out, as seniors Ephraim Barrios and Luis Uribe ran times of 16:03 and 16:06 to place 3rd and 4th over all. The forth runner for the Braves, junior Luis Perez, had the race of his life to place fifth overall and stepped up when it counted most. His time of 16:15 places him 6th amongst juniors on the Brave all time course list. Junior Kevin Urak had a somewhat off day for himself but still managed a top ten finish placing in 8th place with a course PR time of 16:30. Rounding out the top seven were senior Jon Sandoval who also had a breakthrough race to finish 13th overall in a personal best time of 16:43. Seventh man went to Matt Pruter who ran tough to finish in 17:07

Lower level competition saw both Junior Varsity and the Freshman - Sophomore teams sweep the league and also walk away with perfect 4-0 records. Mahesh Gandhi paced the way for the JV in a first place time of 17:24. Sophomore Jon Batres, returning from an injury, was victorious in the F/S race with a time of 17:50.

The Braves next race will be held at La Mirada Regional Park as they run in a team sponsored invitational. Races start at 8:00am. Come support the team as it progresses through the season to become the best team in Bosco cross country history.
