Brave Runners Capture Sixteen Personal Records
On a day when the Varsity runners sat out the other members of
the Braves team took advantage and shined. Running in the Warren
Invitational sixteen of the seventeen Braves that raced took advantage
of the flat, fast course and perfect weather conditions to record
personal records for themselves.
Leading the way for the Freshman team (who placed third overall)
was once again Luis Toapanta (17:46). Toapanta was strongly supported
by teammates Victor Bonilla (18:09), and Raymond Cruces (18:19).
All the freshman set personal records! In the senior race Mahesh
Gandhi tied his personal best with a time of 16:09, while Matt
Estrella set a twelve second personal best to finish in a time
of 16:19. The junior race also featured personal records for all
Braves involved as Matt Pruter led the way to finish in 16:16.
Russell Gonzalez dipped under 17:00 minutes for the first time
to finish in a time of 16:59. Gonzalez has set personal records
in each of his first five races in this, his first year running
cross country!
Next up for the Braves will be the Fresno, Clovis Invitational
held on the State Meet course at Woodward Park. We will have a
list of those Braves participating in the meet in the days to follow! |
