Young Braves Claim Runner-up Spot at Sunny Hills
The
St. John Bosco cross-country program took another positive step as they
were able to claim a second place team finish at this years Sunny Hills
invitational. It was the fifth time in the last six seasons that the Braves
placed their team in the top two (opting not to attend the meet in 2001).
Perhaps more telling was the fact that this new look Bosco team was able
to run well enough to earn the runner-up spot as the six of the top seven
runners were frosh-soph and junior varsity level runners last season.
Junior Victor Bonilla had a solid race to place 2nd in the junior race in a time of 16:12 to pace his team. Junior Tim Barreto had a breakthrough race as he set a personal best of 16:25. Rounding out the top 5 for the Braves were sophomore Brett McCoy - who set a nice personal best to dip under 17 minutes - junior Justin Martinez, and senior Jonathan Batres.
Senior John Woscek posted a time of 18:04 - a full 3 plus minutes faster then his time last season - on an altered course that runs about 15 seconds slower then last year.
