The Brave's track and field squad had not anticipated winning the small schools division this past weekend at the Jim Arquilla Long Beach Wilson relays - though after a few strong performances scattered through out the day the Braves found themselves in the winners circle.

Three Braves in particular had an impact in the meet that will surely help their team throughout the season. Senior Domingo Castellanos continued his strong season in the throws with a solid toss of 139 feet 4 inches in the discus and a huge personal best of 51 feet 5.75 inches in the shot put. Junior Dwayne Giles was the difference in both the Distance Medley and 4x200 relays. His split of 51.3 in the medley brought his team back into contention as they went on to finish second overall and 1st in the small schools division. Giles lead off leg in the 4x200 also gave the Braves squad a lead they would never relinquish as they finished first in a solid time of 1 minute 34.21 seconds. Sophomore Tim Pardo had a stellar day for himself in the frosh/soph division as he set personal bests in the long jump at 19 feet 10.5 inches and in the triple jump at 41 feet even.

Other performances of note came from seniors Frank Islas and Randolph White as they took first and second in the small schools 100 meters, and sophomore Travion Smith as he had a solid day of jumping clearing 6 feet even in the high jump and leaping out to 20 feet 4 inches in the long jump.
