DMR Record Falls at Arcadia
Braves
Distance Medley Relay -10:25.50
8th Fastest Time in the Nation!
The team of Randy Hills, Garrett Schott, Joe Cowan and Anthony
Martinez performed superbly at the Saturday Night portion of
the Arcadia Invitational. Martinez ran the race of his life
in the 1200m (3 laps)opening leg. His time of 3:10.6 was fast
enough to keep his team in contention among the State's best.
He handed the baton off to Garrett Schott in 3rd place. Schott,
who is coming into his own as an elite sprinter this year clocked
a blistering time of 47.9 in his leg of the 400m to move the
Braves up to a tied for 1st spot. Getting the baton next was
Junior Joe Cowan. He was to run the 800m distance, a task he
had never tackled. On this night he would come through for
his team as he ran a fine time of 2:00.9. Bringing it in for
his team was Randy Hills. Hills was in charge of the 1600m
portion of the relay. He fought for second place most of the
way, but running against some of the best milers in the state
he could not hold the position and finished in 4th. All things
considered this is an amazing feat for a team that hadn't run
this race all year! Great Job Braves! |
