Braves Track Starts Strong at Gahr
In what was
the first of three all comer (preseason) Track and Field
meets run at Gahr High School the Braves looked to see where
their early season conditioning has taken them. What
they got was a preview of possible great things to come during
the season.
Junior Joe Cowan led all runners with hand time
PR's of 50.1 in the 400m and 23.1 in the 200m. Cowan
also anchored the 4x100 relay team to a 2nd place finish,
behind the team from Cerritos College. Garrett Schott,
Josh Bradford, and Matt Young, who compromised the other
three legs of the 4x100, also turned in strong early season
performances in the 400m running 51.9, 52.9, and 55.9 respectively
(Young also 23.8 in the 200m).
Seniors Randy Hills and Daniel
Estrella ran strong races in the 1600m to run 4:41 and
4:43. While Junior Anthony Martinez finished with a 4:51 and
Freshman Randy Skillens PR'd in a time of 5:02. |
