Braves Dominate Monarchs BRAVES BULLY MONARCHS IN ONLY HOME MEET OF SEASON
In an overwhelming fashion the Braves of St. John Bosco's
track and field team defeated the visiting Mater Dei Monarchs
by a score of 100-36. It was the first time the Braves
had defeated the Monarchs by such a large margin. A handful
of Braves sparked their team to victory. Senior Roy Alugbue
was victorious in four events. Starting of the day Roy
lead his 440 relay team to victory in a time of 44.8, he then
cleared 6'0 in the high jump to seal the win there. In
the 100m dash Roy placed first in a time of 11.1 seconds and
also finished the day with a victory in the 220 with a time
of 23.5. Senior captain Joe Cowan had an impressive day
as well. He played 2nd leg on the winning 440 relay team,
placed 1st in the 440 in a time of 50.8 and won the 330 intermediate
hurdles in dominating fashion. Other standout performers
for the Braves included Troy Swan who earned three runner-up
spots competing in the high jump, long jump and triple jump,
and distance runners Anthony Martinez and Luis Uribe who took
1st and 2nd in both the 880 and Mile.
In lower level action it was more of the same thing as the
Braves dominated on both the Frosh/Soph and JV level. Standout
athletes on the Frosh/Soph level included Michael Campos (1st
100m), Kenneth Brown (1st 220yd) and Brandon Johnson (1st 440yd).
Next up for the Braves are the Serra League Prelims on Friday
May 2 at Santa Margarita HS. Events start at 2:00PM |
