Braves Top Orange County Schools
Sophomore Leads Team With Four Wins

Sophomore sprinter Brandon Johnson took part in four races at St. John Bosco's season opener against Corona Del Mar and Fountain Valley high schools. His victories in the 400 meters (51.1) and 200 meters (22.7), coupled with his anchor leg victories in the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays, helped the Braves claim commanding victories over two solid Orange County schools.

Johnson wasn't the only reason for the teams success however as many other Braves had noteworthy performances. In the distances seniors Mahesh Gandhi raced to victory in the 800 meters (2:00.8) and Luis Uribe captured the 1600m (4:29.0). Junior Luis Perez led a Bosco sweep in the 3200 meters (9:56) followed by sophomore Jon Batres (9:56) and junior Kevin Urak (9:57). Junior Emiliano Uranga ran a lifetime best in the 300 intermediate hurdles to capture the win (42.6).

The Braves also posted three notable performances on the field. Senior jumper Matt Kaufman won both the long jump and triple jump (40' 4"). Sophomore thrower Adrian Cue placed the shot out to 47' 2" to capture victory while his senior thrower counter part, Jasen DePasquale tossed the discus out to a mark of 145 feet to place first. Jasen's mark places him second all time on the Braves discus list.
