Braves Set Distance Medley Meet Record
Out to prove that they could run with any distance medley
in the state the St. John Bosco relay team set their sights
on a strong performance at this season's Long Beach Wilson
Relays. With their performance they proved that they are able
to, not only, run with the best in the state, but that they
could very well be one of the best teams in the state.
Running to a time of 10:28.3 the Braves not only ran the fastest
time ever by a Brave DMR team this early in the season, but
also set the meet record. Their time was quite impressive when
considering the fastest they expected to run was in the 10:30's.
Junior Kevin Urak opened up his 1200 meter leg with a 3:17
split. Sophomore Brandon Johnson ran a strong leg in the 400
meters to split a 50.5 lap. Senior Mahesh Gandhi started his
leg of the 800 meters with fire, running to a 54 second opening
lap. Unable to hold his momentum he finished in a time of 1:59.9.
Senior Luis Uribe ran an inspired race to complete the meet
record for his team with a 4:21 1600 meter run.
The Braves now set their sites on the prestigious night meet
at the Arcadia invitational where they hope to test themselves
against the states and nations best.
As a team the Varsity Braves captured the runner-up invitational
team spot. |
